What is Ceviche?

A taste of the sea with a spike of zesty lime. Traditional ceviche originated in South America and is often made with fresh raw fish or shrimp cured in citrus juices, such as lemon or lime and then spiced with seasonings, onions salt, chili peppers and salt.

Ori’Zaba’s Shrimp Ceviche

At Ori’Zaba’s we handcraft our ceviche using shrimp, onion, jalapeno, cilantro, lime, tomato and cucumber. Spice and zest come through in every bite with a taste of the sea mixed in. We serve our ceviche with chips, but you could get creative and add it to a bowl, burrito or taco.

How to Eat Ceviche

In South America, each country has put its own twist on ceviche, serving it with a variety of interesting and unexpected foods.

  • In Peru it is served with slices of cold sweet potatoes and corn-on-the-cob.
  • In Ecuador it is often accompanied by popcorn, nuts or corn nuts.
  • South of the border in Mexico, traditional ceviche can be found served with slices of raw onions on toasted tortillas.
  • At Ori’Zaba’s we serve ceviche with chips, but get creative and share how you eat ceviche with us on Instagram @orizabas
