If you are interested in becoming a franchisee, you are probably trying to gather as much information as possible about what the process looks like. There are a number of franchises in the U.S. in a wide variety of industries. As you consider your options, it can be helpful to ask potential franchisors the following questions:
How long does it take after signing a franchise agreement to open for business?
The answer to this question will give you the timeline you need to prepare for your franchise. Answers will vary depending on the franchise. At Ori’Zaba’s, it can take anywhere from six months to a year; however, the Franchise Agreement in place requires the opening to be scheduled within 12 months of signing.
Will the franchisor help with finding a location?
While Ori’Zaba’s conducts extensive research and collects data about location demographics to support franchisees in choosing their location, not all franchisors support their franchisees in this way. It’s important to have the backing of your franchisor when it comes to location selection.
What kind of training do you offer?
Training is the key to providing a streamlined experience for your customers. Some franchisors provide only initial training right before opening, which makes Ori’Zaba’s continuous online module training a real benefit!
What are the ongoing fees and what do they go toward?
After the initial franchise fee, it’s important to know what the ongoing fees are and how they are allocated. Ori’Zaba’s has a marketing fee that equates to 2% of gross sales. This brand fund goes back into the franchise by supporting branding at the national level through social media, digital campaigns, etc. Along with this brand fund, local advertising is 3% of gross sales and again goes back into the franchise by promoting at the local level.
What kinds of support do you offer outside of training?
The answer to this question will help you navigate just how much support you can expect to receive from a prospective franchisor. At Ori’Zaba’s, we pride ourselves in the support that we provide to our franchisees including a restaurant specific financial management system, marketing, and bi-annual onsite visits.
Choosing to purchase a franchise is a big decision. Don’t let a franchisor off the hook when it comes to answering these important questions. Have your own questions for Ori’Zaba’s? Reach out to us today and we’ll be happy to answer them!
