Interesting Facts About the Rainforest and Why We Support Rainforest Trust
One such global cause that we felt compelled to support was the Rainforest Trust. In 2019, over 2,700 square miles of Brazilian rainforest was decimated by fire. That is an aggregated area nearly the size of New Jersey. The devastation affected the entire world and we wanted to help in any way we could.
The Ori’Zaba’s team launched a campaign to donate a portion of our Jackfruit Carnitas sales to the Rainforest Trust. In total we donated $555. Saving rainforests is so important on many levels. Check out these little known, but extremely important facts about rainforests.

- Deforestation releases as much carbon as the entire global transportation sector each year.

We chose to donate sales from our Jackfruit Carnitas because jackfruit is a sustainable crop. The trees that produce the fruit do not require irrigation or pesticides. Jackfruit is also a shade crop that can be intergrown with other crops to create a regenerative eco-system.
Donating money from the sales of our Jackfruit Carnitas to Rainforest Trust was a perfect fit. The Trust works to protect these precious areas of our world which in turn helps our global fight against greenhouse gases and aids in the protection of endangered species.
Supporting The American Heart Association
Ori’Zaba’s menu features a variety of flavorful, fresh, and authentic Mexican meals that you can customize to your liking. We have included heart-healthy options on our menu so you can choose your favorite ingredients.
We know eating great tasting food that is also good for your body is important to our customers. That’s why we have partnered in years past with the American Heart Association during their national “Wear Red” day, bringing awareness to women’s number one killer – cardiovascular disease.
For more than ninety years, the American Heart Association has been on a mission to save lives and prevent heart disease and stroke. The Association has worked tirelessly to educate people on how to make smart meal choices to benefit their heart health.
During past “Wear Red” days, we have donated one dollar from every salad sold to the American Heart Association.
Protecting and Supporting Our People
A cause close to our heart that became top of mind with the on-set of COVID-19 was the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund.
This find is a vital piece of the puzzle when it comes to protection and supporting the citizens of this country and our economy.
We must give to the greater good whenever and wherever possible. Ultimately, it is these acts of giving that will make our communities stronger.

This relief fund was created in response to COVID-19 and is providing grants to restaurant industry employees who have been impacted by COVID-19.This includes restaurant workers who have seen a decrease in wages or loss of employment.
Ori’Zaba’s donated to this fund to not only support our own employees, but also restaurant employees around the nation. Continued support of the restaurant industry is vital to our economy as we continue to recover from the devastating effects of COVID-19.
